Using the image of ocean waves, this meditation helps you rest attention on your breath moving in and out. You'll fall into relaxation by following the natural rhythm of your breath without needing to change anything. A simple practice for settling into the present moment.

Why this helps? Following the rhythm of the breath creates calm and steady focus.

Ocean As Focus Image

Posture And Presence

SPEAKER_02

Welcome to Inner Strength Meditations. A moment to breathe and be. In this meditation, we use the image of the ocean to guide our attention. Remember a time when you visited the beach, or when you've seen a movie of the waves coming in and the waves going out. We're going to rest our attention on our breath. Noticing as the breath goes in and the breath goes out. Sit in your best mindfulness posture with your spine tall and your feet flat on the floor. Allowing yourself to just be with yourself, not worried about what's happening around you, outside, on your phone.

And on the next inhalation, pay attention as the air goes in.

SPEAKER_02

And pay attention as the air goes out. No need to change the way your breath is flowing. Just rest your attention on the air going in and the air going out. In the same way when you're at the beach, you rest your attention on the waves rolling in and the waves rolling out.

Give it a try.

SPEAKER_01

Noticing the breath going in, the breath going out, the waves rolling in, and the waves rolling out. Everyone slightly different.

Release And Appreciation

SPEAKER_02

Every breath slightly the same. Every wave slightly different. Every wave going out going out in the same way. Now you can release your attention from the breath. Just sitting still in your own space, noticing how you feel, noticing if there's any settledness or curiosity or calm or even a little bit of happiness. Let's appreciate this time of being still. Appreciate the opportunity to pay attention. And let's share all the goodwill with everyone. There's nothing else you need to do. Enjoy this moment and stay well.
