Inner Strength Meditations
Steady as a Mountain
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This superpower meditation uses mountain imagery to give you the experience of strength and stability. Connecting with the earth beneath you and visualizing the earth as ancient and steady through all weather. A grounding practice for when you feel knocked around by stress, emotions, or change.
Why this helps? This visualization builds stability and helps you feel grounded when your friends need to lean on you or when your own life feels chaotic.
Why A Mountain Superpower
Posture And Gentle Lengthening
SPEAKER_01Welcome to Inner Strength Meditations. For a little calm and care, we got you. In this superpower meditation, we're going to make ourselves strong as a mountain, steady, solid, weighty, impressive, stable. You can do this meditation anytime. But especially when you're feeling like the world's been a little tipsy. Or when you feel like you've gotten knocked about by things that have happened, by your feelings, by homework or school, work or friends or family. Sometimes we feel like the winds have blown us around a little bit. In this superpower meditation, we're going to imagine ourselves as strong and stable as a mountain. Lift your spine up tall so that you can feel the vertebrae neatly stabbed one on top of the other. And from the inside, stretch just a little bit. Imagine there's a string that goes from the top of your head to a star. And that star gives it just a gentle tug, lifting you up.
SPEAKER_00Now, as you feel yourself lengthening, growing taller, notice how gravity is pulling you into your chair.
SPEAKER_01Notice your weight sinking down. And find those points of contact where you can feel your weight pressing into whatever you're sitting on. And now feel the stable floor of your chair or couch or bed, wherever you're sitting.
SPEAKER_00And feel how whatever you're sitting on is resting on a floor in a building which is resting on the ground.
SPEAKER_01Or maybe you're outside, you're resting on the earth. And in your mind's eye, feel how vast the earth is that you're sitting on right now. How huge it is, how solid.
Visualizing The Mountain
SPEAKER_00How it's so large you can't even imagine what it would be like to go through the earth and come out the other side. Take a deep breath in and fill your body with air.
SPEAKER_01Feeling yourself grow with the superpower of the mountain.
SPEAKER_00Feeling yourself grow with the superpower of the mountain. With the steadiness of the earth of the whole planet. Picture yourself as a tall mountain with a wide base.
SPEAKER_01Strong, stable, enduring, solid year after year.
SPEAKER_00Season after season. Day after day and night after night. Take a deep breath in and send that feeling of solidity and strength all through your body.
SPEAKER_01And exhale out.
SPEAKER_00As you refocus your attention on the room around you, allow yourself to feel how your head is floating at the top of your neck.
SPEAKER_01And your body feels strong, feels anchored, feels rooted, feels stable, feels safe.
SPEAKER_00Thank you for practicing the superpower of the mountain. Carry it with you throughout the day.
