This mindful drinking practice invites you to pay very close relaxed attention to the process and all the sensations around drinking water. A surprisingly relaxing practice for curiosity, presence, and fulfillment.

Why this helps? Practicing mindfulness on everyday activities helps you slow down and discover more joy in everyday moments.

We'd love to hear from you!

Welcome And Practice Setup

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to Inner Strength Meditations. For a little calm and care, we got you.

SPEAKER_02

In this practice, we're going to experience something familiar with a fresh perspective.

First-Time Eyes On Water

SPEAKER_02

Pour yourself some water and take a moment to get comfortable and relax. Holding the cup of water in your hands, imagine that this is your first time seeing water. Allow your imagination to go wild. This practice is about slowing down and discovering something new. Just looking at the water without taking a sip yet. Notice your thoughts and feelings. Take your time. Keep an open mind. Our thoughts, emotions, actions, and sensations are interrelated. Looking at the water, are you becoming thirsty? Are you eager to take a sip? Is it easy or difficult to have patience in this practice? No matter what thoughts or feelings arise, just notice.

Defining Mindfulness In Action

SPEAKER_02

This is the practice of mindfulness, noticing what's happening in our mind, noticing our sensations and feelings, being present with what we are doing.

SPEAKER_01

With a sense of wonder, take your first sip. Continue noticing any sensations or thoughts that arise. Does the water feel cool or warm? Take your time. Continue slowly drinking the rest of your water at your own pace.

SPEAKER_02

Living with curiosity

and fresh eyes can become a habit that allows us to experience greater fulfillment in life. If you find yourself getting a little annoyed with the slowness, guide your attention to the muscles of your face. Can you notice the moment when the automatic function of your body takes over? Notice when you are in full control of the slowness of your sip

and the quickness of your swallow.

Now notice the muscles of your hands as you hold your cup. Is it heavy or light in your hand? Can you notice the

effort it takes to lift the cup to your lips? Appreciate the energy you give to yourself to hydrate.

SPEAKER_02

These little moments of care for yourself really matter.

we close this practice, take a moment to be slow.

SPEAKER_02

You can keep the same curiosity and openness as you move to the next activity. If you would like, take a moment to ponder these questions. They're written at the top of this activity as well. What emotions were you able to observe?

Closing Reflections And Questions

SPEAKER_02

What's the difference between seeing freshly and how we usually experience drinking water?

SPEAKER_01

How does seeing freshly deepen our experience of life? Have a beautiful day.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty awesome.
